Released in November 2007 and now discontinued by Canon, it was manufactured by Sanyo (equivalent to the Sanyo PLC-XP100L) and stands out for its exceptional brightness, flexible mounting options, and advanced imaging capabilities. This projector delivers brilliant visuals with a native XGA resolution (1024 x 768 pixels), supporting a palette of 1.07 billion colors through 10-bit digital video processing for smooth gradations and accurate color reproduction. Its matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) technology ensures portability, durability, and ease of use, making it ideal for professional applications requiring reliable, high-quality projections.
Key Features and Specifications
- Brightness and Contrast: Boasts an impressive 6500 ANSI lumens for vivid, high-visibility images even in well-lit rooms, paired with a 1600:1 contrast ratio for deep blacks and sharp details. Note that some analyses question the exact brightness measurement against industry standards, but user reports confirm its powerful output for large-scale setups.
- Lens and Projection Flexibility: Equipped with a standard 1.3x optical zoom lens (throw ratio: 1.63:1 to 2.12:1), allowing projections from distances of 3.7 to 29.1 feet, covering screen sizes from 31 inches to 400 inches diagonally (up to 702 cm image width). It supports powered vertical lens shift (50% of image height, from 1:1 to 10:0) and horizontal lens shift (10% of image width, from 3:2 to 2:3), enabling precise positioning without image distortion or the need to tilt the unit. Keystone correction is also included for additional installation freedom. Optional interchangeable lenses are available for customized setups.
- Aspect Ratio and Connectivity: Supports standard 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, plus custom adjustments for non-standard formats. Connectivity options include an HDCP-compliant DVI-D port, 5x BNC terminals for RGB/component input, S-Video, composite video, and audio inputs. It also features network control via the optional LV-NI02 Network Imager for remote operation over Ethernet (TCP/IP) with a firmware update.
- Advanced Technology: Utilizes 3LCD technology for multimedia playback, including built-in features for video and data projection. The projector includes edge masking for fine-tuning irregular screen shapes and a lamp life optimized for long-term use (replacement lamp: LV-LP19).
- Dimensions and Design: Compact for its power (dimensions approximately 18.5 x 6.5 x 16.3 inches; weight around 30 lbs), with enhanced mounting efficiency and quiet operation suitable for fixed installations.
