The Canon LV-7585 is a high-performance, large-venue LCD multimedia projector designed specifically for permanent installations in demanding environments such as boardrooms, theaters, conference rooms, and educational or corporate settings. Manufactured by Canon (with production by Sanyo as the equivalent model PLC-XP100L), it was first released in November 2007 and has since been discontinued, but it remains a robust option for users seeking a bright, feature-rich projection solution. This projector leverages advanced 3LCD technology to deliver vibrant, high-contrast images with a palette of 1.07 billion colors, ensuring portability, durability, and ease of use in professional applications.
Key Features and Specifications
- Brightness and Resolution: Boasts an impressive 6500 ANSI lumens for brilliant visibility even in well-lit rooms, paired with a native XGA resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and a contrast ratio of 1600:1. This allows for sharp, detailed projections with an image width of up to 702 cm (approximately 23 feet).
- Lens and Projection Flexibility: Equipped with a standard 1.3x optical zoom lens that supports projection distances from 3.7 to 29.1 feet, accommodating screen sizes from 31 inches to 400 inches diagonally. It features powered vertical lens shift (1:1 to 10:0, or 50% of image height) and horizontal lens shift (3:2 to 2:3, or 10% of image width), enabling precise image positioning without distortion or the need to tilt the projector. Optional lenses are available for customized setups.
- Aspect Ratio and Keystone Correction: Supports standard 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, with custom adjustments for non-standard formats. Built-in keystone correction ensures rectangular images even if the projector is not perfectly aligned.
- Connectivity Options: Includes an HDCP-compliant DVI-D port, 5 x BNC terminals, component video inputs, S-Video, and additional interfaces for versatile integration with various sources. Network control is possible via the optional LV-NI02 Network Imager, allowing remote operation over Ethernet-based TCP/IP networks (requires firmware update).
- Advanced Processing: Utilizes 10-bit digital video processing for smoother color gradations and accurate reproduction, making it suitable for multimedia presentations.
- Physical and Operational Details: Weighs approximately 13 kg (28.7 lbs), with a lamp replacement type of LV-LP19. It includes built-in multimedia features and matrix LCD technology for reliable performance. Note that while specified at 6500 lumens, some analyses question the accuracy of this brightness claim based on standard measurements.
